At the start of the Covid19 lockdown Ava organised a live stream of her one-woman show, Acting Alone to raise some funds for Friends of Alrowwad, and the Derby Refugee and Advice Centre.
Acting Alone tells the stories of some of the people Ava met on her own visit to Palestine. In her unique performance style, she wove these together with tales of the frequently hilarious and occasionally downright bizarre experiences of touring as an actor and performing alone. The play is a personal story, at times heartbreaking and at times funny, that asks questions of the audience.
Ava is working Dr. Adelfattah Abusrour, Friends of Alrowwad UK and Amos Trust, to contribute to the arts and education programmes in Aida Refugee camp in Bethlehem, West Bank.
We have shared on YouTube a full performance of Acting Alone, filmed live at the Nottingham Playhouse. This is a Pay What You Think Performance, with all donations going to DRAC (Derby Refugee Advice Centre in Derby UK., and UK Friends of Alrowwad in Palestine. The streaming of this performance was a digital celebration as part of National Refugee Week 2020, due to the current COVID19 restrictions.
